Signaling pathways and behavior. New developments in the functioning of the central and peripheral nervous system.
The 9th Conference of the National Neuroscience Society of Romania – SNN2018 and the associated workshops were a success!
The 9th Conference of the National Neuroscience Society of Romania (SNN) (SNN2018) was held in Bucharest, at the University of Bucharest – Faculty of Biology (http://www.bio.unibuc.ro) & Research Institute of University of Bucharest – ICUB (http://icub.unibuc.ro), October 18 – 20, 2018. The conference topic “Signaling pathways and behavior. New developments in the functioning of the central and peripheral nervous system” integrated the research activity of the local organizers and Romanian neuroscience community. The event was attended by 120 participants from Romanian universities (Bucharest, Craiova, Targu Mures), but also from Turkey, Serbia, France, UK, Denmark, Italy, Croatia and the US. A total of 32 professional lectures were given by international and Romanian scientists. To increase the students’ participation, two satellite events were associated to the meeting: a course on “Introduction to laboratory animal science”, and workshops and technical demonstrations of “Electrophysiological recordings using Cytopatch automated patch-clamp machine”, “Inducing the spared nerve injury neuropathic pain model”, “Preparing hippocampal slices for electrophysiological recordings” and “Multisensorial recordings using Biopac System”. During the meeting the young scientists had the opportunity to present their work both as a blitz oral/poster presentation, to discuss and establish connections with neuroscientists from different countries. Their presentations were evaluated by a scientific jury and 11 prizes were awarded to the best of them, acknowledging the IBRO-PERC generous support.
